There are several different ways to experience Hapuku Kitchen:

Culinary Adventures . Private Classes . Supper Club . Catering .

Kia ora

At its heart, Hapuku Kitchen is focused on reconnecting the kitchen to the land and sea, celebrating the abundant larder nature has to offer - taking inspiration from the wild Kaikōura landscape.

We invite you into our home, located between the soaring peaks of the Kaikōura mountains and the wild Pacific coast of Aotearoa New Zealand, for a culinary adventure that celebrates the season.

Whether you choose to join us for one of our hands-on, farm-to-table cooking experiences, a private cooking class or a seasonal evening feast at our Whare Kai - Supper Club, you’ll be served the very best ingredients caught, picked and gathered from the whenua (land) and depart with a deeper understanding of the food on your plate.

Cooking Experiences

Hapuku Kitchen offers culinary experiences for cooks of all levels. We believe in traditional cooking methods, teaching resourcefulness and intuition in the kitchen. We are advocates for our community’s farmers, fishers, winemakers, small producers and craftspeople.

Our classes are small and hands-on which enables us to host and provide guidance to each and every guest.

We have created a relaxing space to log off and reconnect with nature and each other. Every cooking experience involves harvesting, foraging, collecting, meeting our farm animals, cooking, eating and drinking.

As a memento of your time with us, you’ll leave with a recipe booklet and most important of all, a connection to us, our home and the Kaikōura landscape.

The Supper Club - Whare Kai

The Supper Club at Hapuku Kitchen offers a unique dining experience in our home, inspired by our natural surroundings. Our three-course, set menus are a celebration of the seasons and everything the wild, rugged region has to offer.

Our dining table seats twelve guests and while you're savouring the flavours of Kaikoura, you'll hear stories about how we grow our food, forage from the mountains to the sea and the people behind locally sourced ingredients.

Get a group of friends or family together and book the entire table of twelve, or book a seat and meet other people interested in good food and great company.

Private Classes and Experiences

We offer bespoke private classes and experiences for couples, families and small groups of friends and work colleagues. Please contact us at kiaora@hapukukitchen.co.nz for prices, available dates and suggestions.

Our half-day private family class is great for children and includes picking vegetables, herbs and flowers from the garden, collecting eggs, feeding the farm animals and taking all of the produce back to the kitchen to prepare simple dishes that are fun to cook and eat.

Do you have specific dietary requirements? We are more than happy to create a class with a menu to suit.

We are also available for small private events including tours of our property, lunches, dinners, pre-wedding get-togethers or other special celebrations such as birthdays and anniversaries.
